Provo Home Evaluation

What is a home evaluation?

Receiving a Provo home evaluation is one way of determining the value of your home. Someone who has a lot of experience evaluating homes should do your home’s evaluation.

Who will evaluate my home?

If you want your home in Provo to be evaluated, your best bet is to ask a Provo real estate agent. A real estate agent is familiar with the value of homes that are for in Provo. Many do not know that real estate agents must pass the Utah real estate exam, and hold a current real estate license. They have also had several hours of training in home evaluation and other aspects of real estate, including Utah real estate law. To get a Provo home evaluation, contact a local real estate professional. Now that you know what a home evaluation is, and who evaluates your home, you may wonder why you would get your home evaluated. Most agents do not charge for this service.

Why have your home evaluated?

There are a couple of good reasons why you would get your home evaluated. First, if you are selling your home, you will want have a home evaluation. Determining the value of your home is an essential part of selling your home. You don’t want to try selling your home for too much, because it won’t sell. And, you don’t want to sell your home for less than it is worth.

A second reason to have your home evaluated is if you are adding a second mortgage. If this is the case, however, you will have to pay a fee and get a more detailed home appraisal done. The casual home evaluations that most realtors are willing to perform for free may not be used for legal purposes such as determining the value of your home for taxes or for loan qualification.

Getting a Provo home evaluation via the Internet:

If you live in Provo, it is a good idea to find the website of a Provo real estate agent, or at least an agent that is familiar with the Provo area. A Provo real estate agent will be able to get a good idea of the value of your home if you accurately answer the questionnaire on his or her website.

Make sure that you are accurate in each of your answers. You aren’t trying to sell the home to the agent; you are trying to get an accurate home evaluation.

What the Real Estate Agent Will Need to Know:

The real estate agent will want accurate contact information. This includes your name, mailing address, phone number, and even you email address. He or she will want to know the best time and way to get in touch with you when your evaluation has been completed.

The agent will need to know some specific information about your home, such as: the year the home was built, the type of material used to build the home (brick, siding, stucco), the type of home (three story, split level, duplex), the square footage of the home, the number of bedrooms, the number of bathrooms, and whether or not the home has a basement.

You will also have to send information about the garage (whether or not there is one, how many cars it holds, whether or not is attached to the house, whether or not is has electricity, heating, etc.)

Most of the remaining questions will deal with the land (how much, what type (farm, wooded), and whether or not there are any bodies of water on the land.

A free Provo home evaluation can be of immense help to those wanting to get a general idea of what their home is worth. Just remember that such an evaluation cannot be used for legal purposes and should not be used as a substitute for the more comprehensive and detailed home appraisal (which cannot be done online and is never free).
